Kyler King
Kyler was born and raised in Stockton, where he spent his childhood immersed in sports—playing baseball, basketball, and flag football. Of the three, baseball was his greatest passion; he played until he was 17. Kyler made many friends in the neighborhood, and it wasn’t uncommon for the house to be filled with kids shooting hoops or just hanging out.
Kyler attended Lincoln Unified Schools from second grade through high school. He later enrolled briefly at Delta College, but academics weren’t where his heart lay. What set Kyler apart was his natural charisma and ability to connect with others—traits that helped him land jobs at Target, Dollar General, Walmart, Tesla, and Lincoln Unified, among others. When he was healthy, he was a dedicated employee, admired and appreciated by his coworkers.
Kyler was the proud father of two boys: Xander, 10, and Lennox, 4. He adored them deeply, and spending time with them brought him great joy. Watching Kyler with his sons—his love for them so pure and evident—was a gift to our family. He also shared a close bond with his sister, whom he loved dearly, and that love was mutual.
In high school, Kyler began experiencing severe back pain. He sought help from doctors and pain specialists, but no long-term treatment options were offered. Instead, he was prescribed oxycodone—marking the beginning of his battle with addiction. Kyler fought hard. He detoxed at home, attended outpatient clinics, and sought counseling. Despite his efforts, the disease proved relentless, and the presence of fentanyl in the substances he used ultimately led to his passing.
Kyler was a kind and gentle soul. He left a lasting impression on those he met, offering friendship, laughter, and support. In the days since his passing, many of his peers and adults from our community have reached out to share how Kyler touched their lives—how he helped, listened, and showed up when they needed someone.
Kyler lived 33 meaningful years. He made a difference in the lives of others, always putting love and kindness at the center of how he lived. He is deeply missed by his family, his friends, and all who knew him.
Kyler’s Korner was created to honor that spirit of compassion and generosity. If our efforts can help even one person overcome addiction or find hope again, then we believe we’ve done justice to Kyler’s memory—and we know he would be proud of the work we’re doing in his name.
Our Committment
The King family and friends are deeply committed to supporting those struggling with addiction. The loss of Kyler serves as a powerful reminder that this work cannot be done alone. Too often, individuals on the path to recovery face overwhelming systemic barriers within our community — and together, we are determined to change that.
